Meet Nikki

I’m Nikki, your enthusiastic guide to all things art. As an artist, I have a passion for inspiring, teaching, and encouraging people to unleash their creativity. Here, we’ll dive into the wonderful world of art, from learning how to draw and paint to DIY projects. But that’s not all! I’m also passionate about helping people along their art journey from making a list of helpful supplies to giving tips and tricks that will help them create art that they will be proud to display on their walls.

Why Did I Name My Blog

Round Of Art?

I named my blog Round Of Art because the first thing that pops into my head when I think of something round is a circle. And just like a circle art is endless.

I found out very quickly that I like to try all kinds of different arts and crafts projects. My earliest memory of being introduced to art was in third grade in a art class. I did not know it at that time but it was the beginning of my art journey learning how to draw and paint. From there I took a 3D printing class in middle school and then in high school I took both graphic and floral design.

Then once I reached college my eyes were opened to the endless opportunities and possibilities of art. I took my first sculpture class where I worked with clay, wood, and bronze. It was also the time that I learned that I did not like all art classes. I did not like working with wood and bronze because of the big machines. I was always afraid of cutting my fingers off. Then I took a photography class where I learned how to use both a digital and film camera. From there I took a digital art class which led me to trying animation. Then last class I took before graduating was a print making class.

Even after graduating from college I have not stopped doing art. The most recent art project that I have tried is learning how to crochet a octopus for the NICU. The church that I go to introduced it to me last year and I though it would be something that would bring me closer to my Grandma.

5 Facts about Nikki:

  • I’ve lived in Texas almost my whole life. I was born in Kansas City, Missouri. Lived in Kansas until the age of five and then moved down to Texas where I have lived ever since. My favorite things about living in Texas is everything is bigger in Texas, the Texas bluebonnets, and I like the mild winters (although I would love to see more snow than we typically get all winter).
  • I am the artist in the family. Born into a family of four with my dad, mom, sister, and I. I am the only one in my family that is an artist. My family likes to ask me for advice and help on art projects. One project I have done for my mom is taken her old wreath that had ribbon falling off of it and replaced it with new ribbon.
  • My degree is in art education. I have always loved art and have spent most of my time in college taking as many art classes as I could. So studying to become an art teacher was a natural choice for me. Once I graduated I worked as a substitute teacher for two and a half years before landing a job as a teachers aid in special education. My favorite part of the job was coming up with art projects and helping the students with their crafts.
  • My inspiration comes from nature. I like to paint and draw the things I see in nature such as flowers, and a variety of animals.
  • I’m a introvert. When I am not working on art I like to play games on the computer, read a book, and watch movies.
